Sydney is Australia's face to the world. With a population of more than 5 million it’s recognised as Australia’s only truly global city. Every year thousands of Kiwis make the decision to relocate to Sydney. Although there a big difference in population, living in Sydney is actually very similar to living in Auckland, with respect to culture, lifestyle, climate, and cost of living.
While some are looking for adventure, what makes Sydney such a popular and attractive destination for kiwis, is the opportunity for career advancement and an improved work life balance. The salaries and wages are higher than in New Zealand and there are plenty of jobs on offer. Most importantly, there is very little red tape preventing Kiwis from making the short hop across the ditch to work and settle in this incredible city.

Shipping Options
Most Ausmove customers use sea freight to send their household goods and personal effects to Sydney. There are various options depending on budget, individual needs, and circumstances. These include;
- Sending your belongings in a shared or groupage container. This is highly recommended if you are on a tight budget or have a smaller shipment. That’s because you only pay your share of the shipping costs. Although this is the slowest shipping option, that’s not always the case with Ausmove. That’s because we have a high frequency of groupage containers going into the port of Sydney.
- Full Container Load (FCL) or sole use container. This is the recommended option if you're shipping a whole house load or wish to send a vehicle. There are both 20 foot and 40-foot container options. It’s often possible for us to pack and load at residence and take your container straight to the port, without excessive handling. While this option is slightly more expensive, it is generally quicker and can save you money on transit accommodation costs.
- Airfreight is also a popular method of shipping into Sydney. This is extremely quick and often used to send a smaller shipment in advance of sea freight. Our offices are perfectly positioned right beside Auckland airport, which speeds up the process even further. It’s particularly popular for customers who have young children or need quick access to their tools of trade, sporting, or office equipment. Many customers use airfreight to reduce the amount of time and cost of a prolonged stay in hotel style transit accommodation.
